Lots of different pasta can be done quickly. You could make or buy the sauce in a jar and then heat it up - perhaps adding extra items like bacon, onions, mushrooms and seasoning. Pasta is really cheap - especially if you buy the shop own brands. Beans on toast is quick, easy and cheap too. Otherwise, how about making large batches of food at the weekend and freezing them for during the week, taking them out to defrost when you want them. Sometimes making food in big batches keeps the costs down. Good luck.
salad or quick min soup
This is an easy and great-tasting recipe for chicken suggested by Jamie Oliver. Cut chicken in 8 pieces and season then place in baking tray. Cover with a mixture of vine and plum tomatoes cut at the size of half a wine tomato (try removing the skin from the plums). Add a good handful of basil leaves, 4-5 garlic cloves, add olive oil, then roast.
you could do sandwiches, cereal, taco's, Crockpot recipes that you can put together in the morning in one of those neat bag things to let cook all day without having to do anything else, etc.
Make a frittata! In large ovenproof (nonstick also) skillet, cook veggies such as diced onion, a little garlic, and then add crumbled cooked bacon, ham (whatever!). Beat 6-8 eggs with S%26amp;P, herbs such as parsley, and some parmesan cheese. Pour into skillet over veggies/meat. Cook on medium until bottom is lightly browned (do not mix--this will be like an egg 'pancake'). Place under broiler until the top is cooked and lightly brown.
Slide out of skillet onto cutting board or large plate and cut into wedges using a pizza cutter or knife. Serve with green vegetable or salad. Leftover wedges make a tasty sandwich.

A very quick and easy dinner is a basic pasta sauce using tinned chopped tomatoes, onion and garlic. I usually fry the onion in olive oil, then add a chopped clove of garlic and salt and pepper. Pour in tomatoes (1 tin for two people) and add a little sugar to taste. You can add different flavours really easily, such as chopped anchovies, fresh basil, chilli flakes, chopped roasted peppers etc.
bread and water? cheap and fast
Well since its dinner , i think you can have sandwiches, and fruits like strawberry w/.cream,or banana split! Quick n easy...
Tater Tot casserole is the best and easiest way togo. For extra flavor add some taco seasoning to your ground beef. Great recipe at cooks.com or just google it. My friends and family have requested this dish on several occassions.
Get yourself a crockpot. Hubby can toss ingredients in in the morning and dinner will be ready when you get home. And with a crockpot, you can use much cheaper cuts of meat. You should also teach hubby the basics of making stir fry and buy a couple of different flavors of stir fry sauces. It doesn't get much easier than that, and he can use whatever protein and veggies that you have on hand. When all else fails, go for simple make-ahead recipes: www.makeaheadmeals.blogspot.com.
