Bowls of olives are always good I reckon, as are breadsticks and houmous. Just the other day I had halved boiled quails egg on a tiny square on lightly toasted bread with asparagus tip and topped with a little mayo, it was delicious, if not a little fiddly! People would be impressed though. Or how about buying puff pastry and making bite sized tarts, with olives, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella/feta, basil etc. Really simple, quick to cook but tasty and fancy! Well wish I was having a cocktail party now! Have fun!I need simple yet delicious recipes of cocktail party snacks.?
These are always a huge hit when I serve them. The recipe is from Foodnetwork.

Spiced Nuts

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

4 cups unsalted mixed nuts, such as walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, and almonds

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

6 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

Mix spices and reserve.

Heat the nuts in a dry skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until they begin to toast, about 4 minutes. Add the butter and cook, stirring, until the nuts begin to darken, about 1 minute.

Add the spices, the sugar, 1 tablespoon water, and the salt and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens and the nuts are glazed, about 5 minutes.

Remove the nuts from the heat and transfer to a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, separating them with a fork. Let the nuts stand until cooled and the sugar has hardened, about 10 minutes. Store in an airtight container.
this rocks they will love it

Spicy meat balls.

Simply mix one egg, some old white bread, milk and 500 Gram of beef mince together until thick paste.

Roll in to balls about the size of a tea spoon and fry n hot cooking oil.

Similarly, make very much the same thing by using left over veg that you have minced fine with a fork, and call it Chinese Spring Rolls.

Also make in the same way some ';bacon fingers';.

Basically the same recipe but using diced bacon and instead of rolls, form them in to rectangles.

Slice some white bread, dip it in a mixture of egg and milk and fry in hot oil, making ';French Toast';.

Here is another;

Using the washed and dried potato peels that you would normally toss out, fry them in deep oil and strain or pat dry with a kitchen towel.

Sprinkle with vinegar salt and serve like crisps.

Make a batter from self raising flour and egg and milk until a thick pate.

Put in a sieve and shake over hot oil.

Droplets of this batter will fall in to the oil, baking in to golden brown pearls.

Remove from oil and pat dry

Sprinkle with icing sugar while hot.

Serve cold.
Striped Pesto Dip

INGREDIENTS

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/3 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

6 tablespoons pesto

1/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts

DIRECTIONS

In a small bowl (2-3 cups), blend cream cheese, sour cream and Parmesan cheese.

In a small clear glass serving dish, spread 1/3 the cream cheese mixture. Top with 2 tablespoons pesto. Repeat layering, ending with a topping of pesto. Sprinkle with walnuts and serve.

I serve this with crostini. I but a baguette and have the bakery slice it, and then put the slices under the broiler to lightly toast each side.
Cheese Ball

Softened cream cheese

Green onions, sliced very thin

Smoked Beef - look where the sandwich meat is at the grocery store, look at the cheap brands, it will say something like ';wafer thin beef'; - chop very fine in the food processor

mix all together, serve on Ritz crackers.

Sounds very simple, but is very good, always a big hit at my get-togethers.
